10月5〜7日にアメリカのパームスプリングスで行われたレトロウイルス学会を終えた池田先生は、同じく学会に参加されていたDiako Ebrahimi先生に招かれ、テキサス州サンアントニオ市のTexas Biomedical Research Instituteを訪問されました。80年以上の歴史のあるこの研究所では、BSL-4の施設があり、HIV-1をはじめSARS-CoV-2やエボラ出血熱など、様々なウイルスの研究が行われています。２日間の滞在で、Ebrahimi先生をはじめ、Ebrahimiラボメンバーの方々やTexas Biomedに所属するたくさんの研究者の皆さんと情報交換、ディスカッションを行われました。またご自身の研究についても発表し、忙しいながらも充実した時間を過ごされたようでした。
After the conference in Palm Springs from October 5 to 7, Dr. Ikeda went to the Texas Biomedical Research Institute in San Antonio, TX, because Dr. Diako Ebrahimi invited him. This research institute has a history of more than 80 years and BSL-4 facilities, where a variety of virus research including HIV-1, SARS-CoV-2, and Ebola has been conducted. During his two-day stay, he discussed with Dr. Ebrahimi, his lab members, and many other researchers. There was also a presentation on his own research. Although he was busy during the visit, he seemed to have a fulfilling time.
