6月19日より一週間、池田先生がG2P-Japanの佐藤佳先生（東京大学）、齊藤暁先生（宮崎大学）と共にロッテルダム（オランダ）、プラハ（チェコ）の研究機関を訪問されました。ロッテルダムでは、オランダで最大の学術医療センター・エラスムスメディカルセンターを訪問されました。Bart Haagmans先生と面会され、現地の研究の状況や設備の説明などを受けられましたが、施設の規模に圧倒されたそうです。またプラハでは、BiocevのJiri Zahradnik先生と面会されました。ここは6つの研究機関が集約された施設で、その機能的なシステムについて大変参考になられたということでした。また池田先生は両機関において、コロナやHIVに関するご自身の研究のプレゼンテーションを行われました。多くの研究者、学生の皆さんに参加していただき、活発な議論ができたそうです。
For a week from June 19, Dr. Ikeda visited research institutes in Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Prague (Czech Republic) with the members of G2P-Japan, Drs. Kei Sato (The University of Tokyo) and Akatsuki Saito (University of Miyazaki).In Rotterdam, they visited Dr. Bart Haagmans at Erasmus Medical Center, the largest academic medical Institution in the Netherlands, on June 20 and 21. They presented their SARS-CoV-2 research and discussed the future of coronavirus research with Dr. Haagmans. Dr. Haagmans also introduced many places of his institute. Dr. Ikeda was overwhelmed by the scale of the facility. On June 22 and 23, they visited Dr. Jiri Zahradnik at Biocev in Prague, Czech Republic. Biocev consists of six research institutes, and they learned a lot from its functional systems. Dr. Ikeda gave presentations on his HIV-1 research there. In both institutes, many researchers and students participated and he had productive discussions with them. Hope these visits lead to future collaboration!
